The Study of Jean-Jacques Rousseau.

I first saw this image 30 years ago, and in the years since it has seldom left my consciousness.

To this day I dream of creating a space like it. Claudia is baffled by my choice of darker colors in my north-facing study. Nearly every morning as I prepare grapefruit I look at the cathedral ceiling over my kitchen sink, pondering how I could put in a glass roof. Not a skylight. A glass roof. Like this.
