Winter Land Art.

In an earlier entry, I've noted the simple beauty of the landscape Richard Schilling discovers and creates.

Here's a contribution from him on the joy of winter snow. The low slanting sun of these short days makes for absolutely perfect image-making opportunities. Every photographer knows the best times of day for lighting are within an hour of sunrise and within an hour of sunset.

Say what you want about the cold season, in January and February these magic times are much more accessible. With my mountain slumbers setting in by 9:00 each night, I'm in trouble making good landscape images in July.

Ain't winter loverly?
